New ManiaPark Finished

We are happy to announce the release of ManiaPark on the 11th of November 2023! More than a year has been spent on developing the sites, almost two years since the previous ManiaPark and Trackmania-Carpark websites were taken down. The new page is based on the codebase of the new TM1X. Large storage reserves have been acquired to accommodate future uploads of community content to ManiaPark.

ManiaPark will be the main hub for all Trackmania and Shootmania texture mods, car models and car skins for all Trackmania PC games that allow content import and export, including the new Trackmania.

All of this wouldn't have been possible without the ManiaPark moderators GKRacer, pj059 and the combined community efforts by the users of the original TM-Carpark and ManiaPark. We would like to express our gratitude towards them for their support.

Some history

TM-Carpark was created in 2005 following Trackmania Sunrise's ability to import custom models and skins. It was then updated following the release of Trackmania Forever to comply with the new abilities of the game. ManiaPark was released to the public in 2011 to accommodate the new Maniaplanet games TrackMania² and ShootMania. For many years, the two websites were the main hub to download and share custom models, skins and model creation resources for Trackmania and Maniaplanet games.

But as time passed, the original team of admins and developers became gradually inactive, leading to a situation where no one was actively maintaining the sites. They became the target of multiple attacks that eventually lead to the sites being taken down in December 2021.

MX Crew were then contacted by the remaining moderators to take over the sites and rebuild them so that all the content gathered for more than 10 years would not be lost forever. Then began a long and complicated process to facilitate the transfer of files to the MX servers and ownership to MX crew. Only after the content was migrated, the development of the brand new site could begin.

Why "ManiaPark" and not two sites again?

When TM-Carpark was released, the page was only used to share car models and skins. ManiaPark was then built based on TM-Carpark to accommodate the new Maniaplanet games TrackMania² and ShootMania, allowing also Texture mods, Gamemodes, Objects and Map Scripts. For simplicity, and to prevent recreating the cumbersome situation of having two separate communities and the tedious task of having to maintain and moderate two separate pages, we have decided to combine both sites into one, with ManiaPark being the more fitting name between the two.

Why did it take so long?

In contrast to TM1X - where we were able to bring back the pages in 2-3 months - we had to work on a completely reworked filesystem. Additionally, we had many considerations about the way we implement the numerous asset types (Texture Mods, Car Models, Car Skins,...) in the back- and frontend. Another reason is that the contents of two pages had to be merged into a completely new one. Solutions for these and more had to be discussed and implemented, which took a lot of time. We wanted to get it right for release.

What are the new page features?

Along with all features previously available on the previous sites, we took the opportunity of rebuilding the site to add many useful features:

• New, lightweight robust file system based on unique IDs
• Completely reworked UI, based on TM1X

• Auto-detection of your files upon upload
• Support of Trackmania Forever, ManiaPlanet and Trackmania 2020 files
• Ability to now upload texture mods for Trackmania 1 games
• Migration of forum replies to comments
• Migration of embedded images in forum posts to the new image gallery
• Upload up to 20 HQ images for your texture mods, skins, car models etc.
• Ability to link your club on Trackmania
• Customize your frontpage
